Evaluation on Second Teaching
Remembering the comments about the previous lesson, I tried not to make the same mistakes in the planning and implementing of the first demonstration. I used the same movie clip, My Big Fat Greek Wedding as I used in the first teaching. As expected, I got good comments in terms of good connection back to a previous lesson and personal background. Almost every commenter mentioned the great use of a Bomb game as a wrap-up activity. Unfortunately, I again had difficulty with managing time and had to rush the assessment at the end.
I realized the importance of prescribing language objectives. In the past, I prescribed the language objectives with regards to language skills that students were required to acquire through a lesson. Therefore, what I did with setting up language objectives was just to list the language skills. Thanks to the instructor's comments about how to prescribe the language objectives, I learned that language objectives should be prescribed with regards to language skills and related learners' performances instead of only listing them.
Feedback definitely contributed to improving my skills and knowledge in planning, implementing and managing instructions. Through the comments about my teaching, I got to know more about some problems in my teaching, such as time management. Additionally, I obtained a more critical and professional view about evaluating my teaching as well as other classmates' teaching.
