This is a collection of reflective journals about methodology which was written in Teaching English as a Second / Foreign Language. Through this course I was able to review a variety of teaching methodologies from grammar translation method to communicative language teaching and multicultural issues in teaching EFL/ESL settings. Above all, I learned how to develop a lesson plan using appropriate teaching methodologies according to the specific teaching context.
It was meaningful and valuable to write a reflective journal in that I had a chance to get involved with a variety of teaching methodologies with regards to the teaching reality we faced. By connecting what I read about each ESL/EFL teaching methodology with my future teaching as well as my previous teaching experiences, I was able to develop critical views about each teaching methodology and apply it in my actual class within a specific teaching context.
Below is a collection of five journals I wrote in Teaching English as a Second / Foreign Language. Each journal includes one methodological issue in it, respectively: English for Academic Purpose (EAP), the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) model, reflective pedagogy, (de) suggestopedia and political dimensions of language teaching.
