Research Project: Views and Perceptions about Native Speaker English Teahcers (NSETs) and Non-Native Speaker English Teachers (NNSETs)
This research project was completed for the course E634 Classroom-based Research in TEFL/TESL. The course helped me define a problem in teaching and find possible solutions.
The research explored Academic English Program (AEP) learners' views and perceptions about NSETs and NNSETs. They had distinctively different perceptions about NSETs and NNSETs. AEP learners preferred NSETs to NNSETs regardless of teachers' English proficiency. The research also provided data for what caused the preference.
Through this research project, I had an opportunity to apply what I learned about classroom-based research and upgraded my expertise in classroom-based research by dealing with critical issues. I hope the research results would give AEP administrators improved insights on NNSETs.
