Teaching Practicum
Supervised College Teaching, ESL (Teaching Practicum) gave an opportunity to design and perform a professional lesson using the methods and approaches I've learned in addition to my teaching philosophy. I performed two teaching demonstrations, which have made me gain the professional and qualified teaching skills and strategies in a real EFL/ESL environment. Additionally, I reflected on my own teaching through after-teaching discussion with an instructor and colleagues.
Two teaching practicum experiences provided me a chance to play not only as a teacher, but also as a lesson plan coach, teaching evaluator and a student. Involved with coaching and evaluating a lesson, I learned about the academic and professional skills beyond teaching in itself. Thanks to giving feedback to colleagues' demonstrations as well as getting feedback from an evaluator and a lesson plan coach, I could develop myself more professionally and gain more confidence as an EFL/ESL teacher. Playing as a student, I was able to review a lesson with a learner's view and it contributed to improving my future lessons by focusing more on learner's comprehension and interactions with learners.
I have demonstrated my competence in implementing and managing Standards-Based ESL and Content Instructions listed under standard 3.b. The following two teaching demonstrations I performed and reflection on practice teaching show that I satisfy the requirements.
