Standards-Based Lesson: How to Use Facebook
This lesson was originally designed for the course Teaching English-Foreign/Second Language, which was to learn about how to develop language instruction supporting EFL/ESL learners' English acquisition using appropriate methods and approaches in a variety of learning environment.
The lesson was developed using the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) lesson template, the hypothetical lesson was for 10th grade Korean high school EFL learners. It was based on General standards of High School Practical English according to Korean National Curriculum for High School Practical English. Based on the students' level, integrative instruction using Facebook was designed with the SIOP template, which contributed to comprehensible input to learners.
The lesson was planned for learners to orally present the Facebook related research results to the class after identifying and analyzing the information from Facebook and each activity was created according to the learners' English proficiency level.
I have demonstrated my competence with the SIOP model lesson plan I created in planning classroom instruction for diverse ELLs reflecting the fundamental concepts of the SIOP using Standards-based ESL and content curriculum. It shows that I meet the requirements for Standard 3.a.
