Professional Development Workshops at INTO CSU
INTO CSU provided professional development opportunities by holding workshops about EFL/ESL teaching. Below are topics of the workshops I attended.
The workshops consisted of workshop leader presentations and discussion time about the topic with audiences regarding the topic. The audience were those who were interested in TEFL/TESL. I came up with better ideas about teaching and professional development as EFL/ESL teachers. In addition, it was valuable to listen to other people's teaching experiences and opinions and share my ideas and opinions with others.
Though all the topics and presentation were useful and informative, the most interesting topic was the TESOL proposal writing workshop. One of the courses I had taken in 2013 Spring was Practicum, and writing a TESOL proposal was one of the requirements for the course. Thanks to the TESOL proposal writing workshop, I could understand how a TESOL proposal should be written: It should include a title, abstract and session description. The presenters taught what to include in each part of a proposal and formats for submissions. Based on the knowledge I got from the presenters, I wrote a CoTESOL 2013 proposal and submitted it. I think the proposal was accepted thanks to the workshop.
I was lucky to be able to take advantage of professional development sessions provided by INTO CSU. All the presenters and audience were TEFL/TESL related, so the topics and discussion were what I should know for my teaching career. The workshops at INTO CSU contributed to my expertise as an EFL/ESL teacher.
